Hitching a ride on a piece of happy turn emoji, Clippy goes in to face his destiny.Ĭlippy and SHANiA face off for the first time, and the old Windows hero is not too pleased with the new girl on the block. Out in the virtual world, emojis, thumbs ups and likes keep on feeding an enormous apple in a not-so-subtle hint at who Clippy must face next. After all, during those times he annoyed us with his not-so-helpful hints, he was just trying to do his job, right? Microsoft’s iconic but polarizing virtual assistant first appeared in Windows 97 as a small paper clip to help Microsoft Office users. You can't help but feel sorry for the little guy. Clippy wants to see for himself who exactly it is that has taken over his role as desktop helper.Ĭlippy plunges head first into the virtual mess that is the Internet where he can hardly understand the chaos that surrounds him, as he is expelled into the trash bin.

It is then that he first discovers the blue bird of Twitter and sees that there is another digital assistant on the block: SHANiA. The "clip" first shows Clippy helping out a Windows user back in 1995 then jumps to the present day, 20 years later where Clippy is desolate, sad and alone in the virtual wasteland of the Maze screensaver, hanging on a noose made with a Loop Tool. The music video was made for the UK band Delta Heavy, and the song "Ghost" is quite a catchy tune as well.
